Cubs…

So the Cubs signed Alfonso Soriano to a 15 year $392 million contract.  Well, close.  If Soriano’s age is accurate, he will be a Cub until he is 39.  He will also be instantly thrust into the roll of “best leadoff guy in baseball.”  How do you figure that?  This is a guy that has a career .325 on base percentage.  This is a guy that had 67 walks last year.  This is a guy that hits .280 at best.  This is a guy that was 28th in the majors in hitting last year.  How does this add up to being a great leadoff guy?  Sure he’s a 40-40 player, but other than that, is he really that good?  Good luck with the pitching Cubbies…
